Founded in 2005, Pilot International Heartland District began as a small group of individuals who shared Pilot International’s mission to influence positive change in communities throughout the world.
To do this, we come together in friendship and service, focusing on encouraging brain safety and health and supporting those who care for others.
Pilot International is a community-based volunteer service organization founded in 1921 in Macon, GA, on the guiding principles of “Friendship and Service.” From its very beginnings, Pilot International and its clubs have been dedicated to spreading the spirit of volunteerism throughout the world.
Since its founding, members across the United States, Bahamas, Japan and South Africa help Pilot International proudly serve the varying needs of communities around the world.
Pilot recruits youth through volunteer service organizations for young people. Today’s Anchor and Compass members are tomorrow's Pilots. a passion for environmental sustainability. Over the years, we have grown into a vibrant community of activists and volunteers who are committed to creating a more sustainable world.

Individuals unfamiliar with Pilot International often assume we fly planes. After Pilots explain that we do not fly planes, we are often asked what we do. We sometimes give our elevator speech which includes our principles, mission, and two focus areas.

The purpose of Pilot’s service is to be fully committed to the promotion and encouragement of youth development and leadership through our Anchor and Compass Clubs.

The Heartland District of Pilot International was founded in 2018 when the KS-MO and the AR-OK districts combined.
Pilot International clubs are assigned to local districts. Our districts are led by a team that work with club members to promote our programs and initiatives.
